What does rebalancing do?

When drift pushes weights off target, you trim the overweight asset and top up the underweight one.

Positive difference means buy; negative means sell.

How to use

  1. Enter the current values of assets A and B.
  2. Enter A's target weight in percent (B takes the rest).
  3. Click Calculate to see targets and the A/B trade differences.

Formula

  • Total = A + B
  • Target A = Total × A%; Target B = Total − Target A
  • Diff = Target − Current (buy if positive, sell if negative)

Example

A=800, B=200, target A 50% → targets 500/500; sell 300 A, buy 300 B.

At 70%: target A 700, sell 100 A, buy 100 B.

FAQ

Fees included?

No. Real rebalancing costs trading fees; overtrading can erode returns.

More than two assets?

This is a two-asset example; generalize by applying target weights per asset.
