Multi-Asset Rebalance Calculator

For up to five assets, enter current values and target weights (normalized to 100%) to get each target amount and the buy/sell gap.

Risk disclaimer

Target weights and values are your inputs; the page computes arithmetic gaps only and offers no investment advice.

How is the rebalance gap computed?

Compute the portfolio total and normalized weights, then subtract current value from each target amount: positive means buy, negative means sell.

Weights like 30+30+40 need not sum exactly to 100 — the page normalizes them.

How to use

  1. Per row, enter an asset's current value and target weight (%).
  2. Empty rows count as 0; up to five assets.
  3. Click Calculate for the total, each target amount and the buy/sell gap.

Formula

  • Normalized weight = target weight ÷ Σtarget weights
  • Target amount = portfolio total × normalized weight
  • Gap = target amount − current value (positive buy, negative sell)

Example

A value 4,000 at weight 30 and B value 6,000 at 70 → total 10,000: A sells 1,000 and B buys 1,000.

Already at 40/60 with a 40/60 target, gaps are 0 — nothing to trade.

FAQ

Why normalize?

It removes the need to sum weights to exactly 100; only relative proportions matter.

Fees and slippage included?

No. Gaps are the notional amounts to trade; execution costs are extra.
