What is compounding?
Compounding reinvests each period's interest: Future Value = P × (1 + rate/frequency)^(frequency × years).
Higher frequency grows faster: daily (365) beats monthly (12) beats annual (1).
How to use
- Enter the principal and annual rate in percent.
- Set compounds per year (monthly = 12, daily = 365) and the number of years.
- Click Calculate to see future value and total interest.
Formula
- Future Value = P × (1 + rate/frequency)^(frequency × years)
- Total Interest = Future Value − Principal
Example
1,000 at 10% compounded once a year for 1 year → 1,100.
Compounded monthly (12): about 1,104.71 after a year — slightly above simple interest.
FAQ
Which frequency should I use?
Match the product's actual payout schedule. Staking/DeFi often reinvest daily or per block; fixed-term products usually pay once.
Are fees included?
No. On-chain or withdrawal costs reduce the real outcome; approximate by lowering the principal.
