Risk disclaimer
A generic approximation without fees, funding or per-position tiers — follow your venue's live rules.
How to read this risk rate?
The maintenance requirement is the margin current positions must keep; the trigger line varies by venue and tier.
This page turns equity versus requirement into a percentage: above 100% there is headroom; below it you are near liquidation or need to cut.
Real rules add fees, funding and risk limits — defer to your exchange.
How to use
- Enter account equity (current asset value).
- Enter used margin (locked by positions).
- Enter the maintenance requirement of current positions.
- Click Calculate for the risk rate and buffers.
Formula
- Risk rate = equity ÷ maintenance requirement × 100
- Loss buffer = equity − maintenance requirement
- Free equity = equity − used margin
Example
Equity 10,000, used 3,000, requirement 2,000 → risk rate 500%, buffer 8,000, free equity 7,000.
As the requirement nears equity, the rate approaches 100% and the buffer shrinks.
FAQ
Is high or low better?
In this definition higher means safer (more equity above the requirement); below 100% equity no longer covers it.
Matches my exchange's rate?
Not exactly. Venues use their own formulas with fees and funding; this is a generic self-check approximation.
