Risk disclaimer

This calculator provides estimates for informational purposes only and is not an exact liquidation engine. Fees, funding, slippage and risk-tier rules affect real liquidations. High leverage carries liquidation risk.

What is the estimated liquidation price?

A position is liquidated when margin falls below maintenance margin during adverse price moves. Real liquidation depends on maintenance margin, fees, funding, risk tiers and exchange rules.

This tool uses a common approximation (excluding open/close fees, funding and slippage), so results are labeled as estimates. Use 0 extra balance for isolated; for cross, approximate the wallet balance available to absorb losses.

How to use

  1. Choose long/short and isolated/cross margin mode.
  2. Enter entry price, quantity, leverage and the maintenance margin rate (default 0.5%).
  3. Keep extra balance at 0 for isolated; for cross, enter approximate available balance.
  4. Click Calculate to see the estimated liquidation price, distance in % and maintenance margin.

Estimation formula (approximate)

  • Long: Liq ≈ Entry × (1 − 1/Leverage − Extra/Notional + MMR)
  • Short: Liq ≈ Entry × (1 + 1/Leverage + Extra/Notional − MMR)
  • Maintenance Margin = Notional × MMR

Example

Long entry 100, qty 10, 10x, MMR 0.5%, isolated: liq ≈ 90.5, about 9.5% below entry.

Same position in cross with 50 extra balance: liq ≈ 85.5, about 14.5% below entry — more room to breathe.

FAQ

Why “estimate” instead of “exact”?

Exchanges also deduct open fees and funding and apply risk-tier rules that differ per platform. This site offers a generic estimate, not any exchange's engine.

Isolated vs cross?

Isolated uses only the position's margin (extra = 0). Cross draws on remaining wallet balance, giving more room, but other positions' maintenance margin also matters.

Where do I find the maintenance margin rate?

On the exchange's contract spec / risk-limit page per tier (e.g. BTC often 0.4%–0.5%). Use your tier's rate for better accuracy.
