Risk disclaimer

This calculator provides estimates for informational purposes only. In fast markets price may skip the stop and real fills include slippage.

How do you turn a % stop into a price?

Long stops sit below entry: stop = entry × (1 − distance%); short stops sit above: stop = entry × (1 + distance%).

Use it to align percentage stops with actual limit prices on your exchange.

How to use

  1. Enter the entry price and the stop distance in percent (e.g. 5 = 5%).
  2. Click Calculate to see the long and short stop prices.

Formula

  • Long Stop = Entry × (1 − Distance%)
  • Short Stop = Entry × (1 + Distance%)

Example

Entry 20,000 at 5%: long stop 19,000, short stop 21,000.

At 2%: long stop 19,600, short stop 20,400.

FAQ

What distance should I use?

Base it on volatility and your plan. Too tight gets stopped out; too wide means large losses. Consider ATR or support levels.

Are fees included?

No. Both trading fees still apply after a stop, and fast markets can fill worse than the trigger.
