Why use ATR stops?
Fixed % stops get shaken out when volatility rises. ATR-based stops adapt to current range.
Common multiples are 1–3×: tighter at 1, looser at 3, chosen per asset and timeframe.
How to use
- Choose long or short.
- Enter the entry price, ATR and stop multiple (default 1.5).
- Click Calculate to see the stop price.
Formula
- Long Stop = Entry − ATR × Multiple
- Short Stop = Entry + ATR × Multiple
Example
Entry 100, ATR 2, multiple 1.5 → long stop 97, short stop 103.
At multiple 3 the long stop is 94.
