Risk disclaimer
CAGR ignores volatility and drawdown — never judge a strategy on it alone.
What is CAGR?
CAGR converts a period's total return into an annualized, smoothly compounding rate so different holding periods can be compared.
It smooths out all interim volatility — it says “if it compounded like this every year”, not how the path really went.
How to use
- Enter the start and end values.
- Enter the holding days.
- Click Calculate for the annualized return.
Formula
- CAGR = (end ÷ start)^(365 ÷ days) − 1
Example
10,000 → 11,000 in 30 days: +10% total, CAGR ≈ 187.7% (heavy extrapolation — illustrates the basis).
10,000 → 13,000 in a year: CAGR = 30%.
FAQ
Why do short-term annualized numbers look crazy?
Annualizing extrapolates linearly; the shorter the window the bigger the multiplier. Not a forecast.
