DCA Goal Payment Calculator

From a target value, per-period return and period count, solve for the required contribution each period (annuity model).

Results

Fill in the inputs and click Calculate.

Risk disclaimer

The return is an assumption; the solve is not a return promise.

Why can we solve the contribution?

With a constant contribution C, per-period return r and n periods, the end value has a closed form; inverting it yields C.

r is your assumption — this is math, not a promise.

How to use

  1. Enter the target end value.
  2. Enter the per-period return (%) and the total periods.
  3. Click Calculate for the per-period contribution.

If you would rather not compute and place orders by hand each time, the parameters and rules you settle on here can be executed automatically by a quant system such as CubeQuants.

Formula

  • Per period = target × r ÷ ((1+r)^periods − 1)
  • Total contributed = per period × periods
  • Growth = target − total contributed

Example

Target 100,000, 1% per period, 120 periods → per period ≈ 100,000×0.01÷((1.01)^120−1) ≈ 434.71.

Higher returns or more periods lower the needed contribution.

FAQ

Is the return fixed?

The model assumes a constant per-period return; real markets deviate, so treat the result as a planning estimate.

Can these calculations be executed automatically?

Yes. Work out the parameters and risk limits here first, then hand the same rules to a quant system such as CubeQuants so you don't have to place orders manually. Fills still depend on your exchange, so verify with a small size first.
