Why track net PnL with funding?

Long holds cost more than fees: funding charges the notional periodically, and the total grows with holding time.

This tool subtracts round-trip fees and estimated funding from gross PnL for a closer real-world net figure.

How to use

  1. Choose long or short.
  2. Enter entry, exit and quantity.
  3. Enter the per-side fee rate (%) and the total funding share (%) for the hold, then click Calculate.

Formula

  • Open fee = Entry × Qty × rate; Close fee = Exit × Qty × rate
  • Funding = Entry × Qty × funding share
  • Net PnL = Gross PnL − Fees − Funding

Example

Long entry 20,000, exit 21,000, qty 1, fee 0.05%, funding share 0.1% → gross 1,000, costs 10+10.5+20 ≈ 40.5, net ≈ 959.5.

The higher the funding share or the longer the hold, the bigger the gap from gross.

FAQ

Is funding on entry price accurate?

Funding is charged per period on notional; this approximates it as entry notional × total share — directionally right, slightly approximate.

What rates should I enter?

Per-side taker/maker fee % and the total funding share expected over the hold (estimate with the funding rate calculator).
