Risk disclaimer
Funding rates fluctuate per settlement; results assume fixed rates as a comparison aid.
How does funding accumulate?
Settlement occurs every 8 hours, i.e. 3 times a day, on the notional.
Held long enough — or with sustained positive/negative rates — funding materially affects cost, or can subsidize a position.
This table uses simple accumulation (no compounding) and does not distinguish payer versus receiver.
How to use
- Enter the notional.
- Enter the holding period in days.
- Click Calculate for the annual and period costs across the rate tiers.
Formula
- Per-settlement funding = notional × per-period rate
- Daily cost = per-settlement × 3
- Annual = × 3 × 365; period cost = × 3 × days
Example
Notional 10,000 held 30 days: at 0.01%/period the period cost is 90 and annual 1,095.
At 0.1%/period they become 900 and 10,950 — rate levels matter a lot.
FAQ
What if I am the receiving short?
Direction depends on the prevailing rate sign and your side; this table gives magnitudes — check your venue for pay/receive.
Why no compounding?
Funding is usually small versus notional, so simple accumulation is intuitive; compound by hand if you want precision.
