What does liquidation distance mean?
Liquidation distance shows how much adverse move remains before liquidation — the lower the %, the thinner the buffer.
Compare it with your stop: if the stop sits beyond the liquidation price, adverse moves may liquidate you first.
How to use
- Choose long or short.
- Enter entry price and the liquidation price from the liquidation price calculator.
- Enter quantity to see the percentage and dollar buffer.
Formula
- Long distance % = (Entry − Liquidation) ÷ Entry × 100%
- Short distance % = (Liquidation − Entry) ÷ Entry × 100%
- Dollar buffer = |Entry − Liquidation| × Quantity
Example
Long entry 20,000, liquidation 17,500 → distance 12.5%; with qty 1 the buffer is 2,500.
At higher leverage the liquidation price sits closer, so the buffer thins.
