Why plan stop & target together?
From one entry, a % stop and % target produce both prices per direction: longs stop below and target above, shorts the reverse.
R:R = target distance ÷ stop distance helps you judge whether the plan is worth taking.
How to use
- Choose long or short.
- Enter the entry price, stop distance % and target distance %.
- Click Calculate to see the stop price, target price and R:R.
Formula
- Long: stop = entry×(1−stop%), target = entry×(1+target%)
- Short: stop = entry×(1+stop%), target = entry×(1−target%)
- R:R = Target Distance ÷ Stop Distance
Example
Long entry 100, stop 5%, target 10% → stop 95, target 110, R:R 2.
Short with the same parameters → stop 105, target 90, R:R 2.
FAQ
What R:R is reasonable?
Pair with your win rate; commonly at least 1.5–2, then size so per-trade loss fits the risk budget.
