Risk disclaimer
Results are quantity math only. Lowering the average raises exposure; further declines amplify losses.
What does target-average adding solve?
With current cost entry×qty and an add at addPrice, the weighted average is (entry×qty + addPrice×addQty) ÷ (qty+addQty).
Solving for addQty at a chosen target average shows how much you need to add to move the average there.
How to use
- Enter the current entry price and quantity.
- Enter the target average (between current price and the add price).
- Enter the add price and click Calculate for the needed add quantity.
Formula
- Add qty = current qty × (target avg − entry) ÷ (add price − target avg)
- Total = current qty + add qty
Example
Entry 20,000×1, target 19,000, add at 18,000 → add qty = 1 × (−1000)÷(−1000) = 1.
The lower the add price, the less quantity needed to reach a given average — but downside risk grows if it keeps falling.
FAQ
Is this averaging down?
The tool only computes the quantity math; whether to add is your plan and stop decision — it is not advice.
