Risk disclaimer
This calculator provides estimates for informational purposes only. The true break-even also depends on funding, slippage and mark price.
What is the break-even price?
Fees push the break-even exit higher for longs and lower for shorts. At the break-even price, gross PnL offsets open+close fees, so net PnL is zero.
This estimate excludes funding and slippage. For longer holds, funding becomes significant and should be added.
How to use
- Choose long or short.
- Enter the entry price and fee rate in percent.
- Click Calculate to get the break-even exit price.
Formula
- Long BE = Entry × (1 + r) ÷ (1 − r)
- Short BE = Entry × (1 − r) ÷ (1 + r)
- where r = fee rate ÷ 100 (charged on open and close)
Example
Long entry 20,000 at 0.05%: break-even ≈ 20,020.01, roughly 20 above entry.
Short entry 20,000 at 0.05%: break-even ≈ 19,980.01.
FAQ
Why isn't break-even equal to entry?
Because fees are charged on both open and close, so price must travel further to cover them.
Do funding and slippage count?
No. For longer holds, add the expected funding cost as a price distance manually.
