Risk disclaimer
This calculator provides estimates for informational purposes only. Actual results may vary depending on exchange rules, fees, funding rates, slippage, liquidity and market conditions. Leveraged trading carries liquidation risk.
What is this futures PnL calculator?
The futures PnL calculator estimates the profit or loss between a specified entry and exit price for perpetual or delivery contracts. Direction (long/short), quantity, leverage, fee rates and funding are combined into one result table so you can quickly assess a trade before opening it.
This tool follows the common linear USDT contract formula and provides estimates only; it does not replace an exchange's actual liquidation rules.
How to use
- Choose a direction: long or short.
- Enter the entry price, exit price and quantity.
- Optionally fill in leverage (default 10x), fee rate and funding rate (percentages).
- Click Calculate to see position value, price change, gross/net PnL, fees, initial margin and ROE.
Formula
- Long PnL = (Exit Price − Entry Price) × Quantity
- Short PnL = (Entry Price − Exit Price) × Quantity
- Position Value = Entry Price × Quantity
- Initial Margin = Position Value ÷ Leverage
- Trading Fee = Notional × Fee Rate
- Net PnL = Gross PnL − Open Fee − Close Fee − Funding Fee
- ROE = Net PnL ÷ Initial Margin × 100%
Example
Long: entry 20,000, exit 21,000, quantity 1, leverage 10x, fee rate 0.05%, funding 0%.
Gross PnL = (21,000 − 20,000) × 1 = 1,000; open fee ≈ 10, close fee ≈ 10.5, net PnL ≈ 979.5; initial margin = 2,000; ROE ≈ 48.98%.
Short: entry 20,000, exit 19,500, quantity 2, leverage 5x, fee rate 0.06%, funding 0%.
Gross PnL = (20,000 − 19,500) × 2 = 1,000; net PnL ≈ 952.6; initial margin = 8,000; ROE ≈ 11.91%.
FAQ
Why doesn't the result match my exchange?
This tool uses the common linear USDT contract formula. Exchanges differ in fee tiers, maintenance margin, funding and liquidation rules, and slippage is not simulated, so results may differ from an actual settlement.
How do I enter fees and funding?
Enter the fee rate as a percentage (e.g. 0.05 means 0.05%); it is charged on both open and close. Enter the funding rate as a percentage too; only fill it in when you know the average funding during the holding period.
Does this calculator include liquidation?
No. Liquidation price depends on maintenance margin, margin mode and exchange rules. Use a dedicated liquidation price calculator for that estimate.
