How do inverse contracts differ?
Inverse (coin-margined) contracts settle in the base coin while the face value is quoted in USD, making P&L non-linear in price.
For the same USD face, lower entry prices lock in more coin; profits are counted in coin and converted at the exit price.
How to use
- Choose long or short.
- Enter the entry price, exit price and the USD face value.
- Optional: enter the coin collateral to see the coin-denominated return.
- Click Calculate for coin P&L, USD P&L and the return.
Formula
- Long: P&L (coin) = face × (1/entry − 1/exit)
- Short: P&L (coin) = face × (1/exit − 1/entry)
- USD P&L = P&L (coin) × exit price
Example
Face 1,000: long from 100 to 110 → ≈ 0.909 coin, worth ≈ 100 USD at exit.
Short from 100 to 90 → ≈ 1.111 coin, also ≈ 100 USD.
FAQ
Why does it look non-linear?
Because P&L settles in coin against a fixed USD face: 1/entry − 1/exit does not scale linearly with price.
Same result as linear USDT contracts?
USD terms are similar for identical prices, but the coin view differs — pick the tool for your contract type.
