Long vs Short Compare Calculator

With identical entry, exit and quantity, show both directions side by side including an estimated two-side fee.

Fill in the inputs and click Calculate.

Risk disclaimer

The compare assumes price reaches the exit; interim swings affect liquidation risk, not this result.

Which direction wins?

Whichever target the price reaches first profits; gross amounts are equal with opposite signs.

Fees apply on both legs (open+close), so they are the same for each direction but hit the loser harder in net terms.

How to use

  1. Enter entry, exit and quantity.
  2. Enter the two-side fee rate (e.g. 0.1 = 0.1% open+close combined).
  3. Click Calculate to compare gross and net results.

Formula

  • Long gross = (exit − entry) × qty
  • Short gross = (entry − exit) × qty
  • Fees = (entry×qty + exit×qty) × rate

Example

Entry 100, exit 110, qty 10, fee 0.1% → gross +100/−100, fees 2.1, net 97.9/−102.1.

The losing side nets worse because it still pays the same fees.

FAQ

Does it include funding?

No. Funding paid while holding would affect longs/shorts differently — use the funding tool separately.
