P&L to Price Move Calculator

With notional known, convert a target P&L amount into the required price move in percent (direction-neutral).

Fill in the inputs and click Calculate.

Risk disclaimer

A linear notional estimate; liquidation and fees excluded, and the wrong direction loses symmetrically.

Why does this work?

A 1% price move changes P&L by notional × 1% (notional already reflects leverage exposure).

So: required move % = target P&L ÷ notional.

How to use

  1. Enter the position notional.
  2. Enter the target P&L (positive or negative).
  3. Click Calculate for the required price move.

Formula

  • Move = target P&L ÷ notional × 100%

Example

Notional 10,000 targeting 500 → a 5% favourable move is needed.

Longs need it up; shorts need it down.

FAQ

Is leverage reflected?

Notional already embeds leverage — more leverage means larger notional, so less price move hits the target.
